Be Part of Something That Matters

Kids Pantry is powered by a dedicated community of Volunteers who believe that no child should spend the weekend hungry.

Whether it’s packing backpacks, shopping for groceries, or making deliveries, every task plays a vital role in ensuring local children have the food they need when school is out.

How you can help

Shop for Groceries

  • Shelf-Stable Shopping (Monthly, 3 - 6 hrs + Costco trip): Use a provided list to purchase non-perishable food items.
  • Fresh Food Shopping (Weekly, 30 - 45 min): Pick up fresh produce before backpacks are packed.
  • Grocery Card Shopping (Monthly, 45 min): Purchase grocery gift cards for families with additional needs.

Sort and Pack

  • Unpack Groceries (Monthly, 30 - 60 min): Place shelf-stable groceries on storage racks.
  • Label Bags & Envelopes (Monthly, 1 - 2 hrs): Label condiment bags, envelopes, and organize materials for packing.
  • Pre-Pack Food Bins (Every 2 Weeks, 2–2.5 hrs): Pack bins with food tailored to each child’s needs.
  • Pack Backpacks (Weekly, 45 - 60 min): Load backpacks with shelf-stable and fresh items.

Deliver Backpacks

  • School & Home Drop-offs (Weekly, 30–60 min): Deliver filled backpacks to schools and homes on Friday afternoons.
  • Return & Organize Backpacks (Weekly, 15 - 30 min): Inventory returned backpacks and prepare them for the next week.

What You’ll Need

Some tasks require a vehicle or a cell phone for coordination. We provide everything else: shopping lists, bags, labels, and friendly support. Tasks are well organized and most can be done solo or in pairs.
